Mark Gonzalez is an international dance artist and educator born and raised in the small city of Edinburg, Texas. He received a BFA in Dance with an emphasis in Performance and Choreography and a Minor in Theatre from Texas State University. Mark was a 3 year member of Merge Dance Company, the pre-professional dance company at Texas State University.
Gonzalez has had the privilege to gain training and exposure to a variety of dance artists from around the world. Notable choreographers include but are not limited to: Mike Esperanza (NYC), Joshua L. Peugh (Las Cruces, New Mexico), Erica Gionfriddo (ARCOS Dance), Andy and Dionne Noble (Noble Motion Dance), Matthew Farmer (Michigan) and Christa Oliver (Austin, TX).
Mark's performance and artistic affiliations include regional, national and international opportunities. These experiences include but are not limited to: American College Dance Association, Texas Dance Educator's Association, Footprint Dance Festival (London, England), COCO Dance Festival (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago), Barnstorm Dance Fest (Houston, Texas), Contact Dance International Film Festival (Toronto, Ontario) and Dark Circles Contemporary Dance USA (Las Cruces, New Mexico).
Mark is currently living in Dayton, Ohio where he is excited to be performing with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company 2.
Mark's life passion is to create work revolving around issues related to the LGBTQIA+ community. Mark hopes to inspire others and lend a voice through dance. He aspires to be a positive influence for male dancers and being born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, he values Hispanic representation and diversity in dance. Mark is a firm believer in the power of passion and hard work.
